Establishing himself as a branded content photographer, DoP, editor and creative director, Kwame went on to writing and directing narrative drama and documentary films for exhibition. ‘CALM’ was selected to several international festivals and nominated for 'Best International Short Film’ at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) in 2015.
Calm has received critical acclaim for tackling the important issue of FGM and how it links to a patriarchal society in which girls are harmed for male honour.
‘BAiL’ (2019) was awarded the ‘Directors Award’ at Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) in Los Angeles and won ‘Best Foreign Short Film’ at Realtime International Film Festival (RTF) 2019. BAiL also the proud recipient of an African Movie Academy Award (AMMA) for 'Best Diaspora Short Film 2019’.
Dealing with the challenging issue of sexual consent, BAiL forces parents to confront their own unconscious gender biases - and take responsibility for the challenging circumstances girls can find themselves in.
2021 Kwame is currently a consultant producer on a sitcom series in Botswana, editor for a girl-focused charity making films in Sierra Leone, editor for a cinematic art-house drama based in Trinidad and Tobago and editor for a Clore leadership podcast in London.
He is also is developing TV series ideas for the US, UK and now developing a gender equality focused anthology series MAN-UP in Barbados.
